July 21st 2026 Update for Rabbit Parents:

At Small Pet Select, we take every precaution to help protect rabbits from Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV). As part of our standard practice, we typically hold hay for at least 90 days before offering it for sale.

Our Hay Sampler includes Oat Hay from our current harvest. Due to limited availability, we're making an exception to our standard holding period for the Oat Hay included in this sampler. This harvest will reach the full 90-day holding period on October 10th, 2026.

There have been no known cases of RHDV in the Pacific Northwest, where this hay was grown, and we continue to actively monitor the situation. We believe in being transparent with our customers so you can make the best decision for your pets. Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHDV) Updates

Trying to figure out which hay will work best for your little guy or gal? Looking for different hay types to make the regular diet more interesting? Here’s a great way to sample four of our best selling hays.

Our Sampler Hay Box contains 2lbs. each of 2nd cutting “perfect blend” Timothy, 3rd cutting “super soft” Timothy, Oat hay, and Orchard hay.

Mmmmmm. Remember, our little animals naturally eat a wide variety of grasses, so they sure appreciate variety.

If you’re wondering how the hay types in our sampler box compare to other types of hay, we’re here to help. We explain many of the different types of hay here, but to summarize, the most common types are Timothy hay (1st, 2nd, and 3rd cutting), alfalfa hay, orchard hay, and oat hay. Different types of hay have different characteristics, so it’s important to understand the profiles of each to meet your pet’s needs.

Small Pet Select knows hay. Inside and out. We have close relationships with many hay farmers in Washington State, and with more than 30 years of connections, you’re getting the best of the best. We personally choose the hay we like. We go to the fields, see the hay and smell the fresh crop. We hand pack each and every box that’s shipped to our customers. Our eyes are on everything… from the field to your door. We work hard to keep you as happy with us as your animal is with our products. Happy animals = happy parents. And we love that.
